Olmos recieves 'Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree'
 

Actor and activist Edward James Olmos was recently awarded an Honorary Doctor of Humane letters degree at Virginia State University. With almost 600 students receiving their awards, Edward James Olmos took a minute to talk openly about education and encouraged the students to voice their opinion in the upcoming U.S Presidential election "When I graduated in 1968, I graduated in tears knowing that Martin Luther King had been killed. You are graduating for the first time in the history of this country where we could have an African-American as president of the United States of America."

Edward James Olmos was a winner at the Alama Awards in 2007. Winning in two seperate categories, the first was in the category of Outstanding Actor - Television Series for his work on 'Battlestar Galactica', and the second was for Outstanding Director -Television Movie for his Directorial work on the HBO hit 'Walkout'. Both well deserved wins.
